This riding safari incorporates the best of South Africa's wilderness, big game and horse ranches. Featuring Triple B Ranch situated in the heart of the Waterberg Plateau in the Waterberg Mountains, this is a wilderness area of outstanding natural beauty, with breathtaking vistas, mountain gorges and wildlife.
The ranch has been home to the Baber family for three generations and has bred cattle since the first settlers trekked into the area at the end of the nineteenth century. The ranch now holds over 2000 head of Bosmara cattle, a hardy African breed suited to the harsh conditions. The ranch also operates its own private game reserve and grows crops such as maize, tobacco and peanuts.
The area lends itself to some superb riding opportunities - the going is easy as the horses run unshod on perfect sandy soil, and though in places the bush is thick, much of the country is open and flat, lending itself to extended canters.
The Wildlife
The area boasts many species of game including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and a host of antelope such as Eland, Kudu, Impala and Hartebeest. Using the knowledge of local guides, you will explore game tracks, follow spoor and learn local bush lore. Viewing game on horseback is an exciting and enriching experience - as the animals seem to have no fear of you, you are able to get closer than you ever thought possible.
Aside from riding, there are numerous other things to do including game safaris, guided bush walks, learning about the management of this huge mixed farm, or afternoons at the pool, playing tennis or simply relaxing.
