The Pushkar Desert Fair Ride

Highlights of this trip include: the dunes and sandy flats of the Thar desert that allow the Marwari horses to canter and gallop in unrestrained fashion; the wonderful Sambhar Lake, whose salt flats attract flamingos and other wintering water birds in the thousands; and of course, the great fair of Pushkar.
The holy bathing tank of Pushkar, venerated by millions throughout history, has become the focal point of the immense and colorful cattle fair. The dunes, camel trains, rustic sports like camel wrestling and horse races are fascinating, along with the myriad village folk in colorful dresses.
On our adventure, we follow these folk to their camps in the desert as they make their way towards Pushkar. At the end of the fair the millions throng to the bathing pool to wash their sins.
