“The Horse Safari to The Pushkar Fair Rajasthan”.

Pushkar is renowned as an immense cultural and human extravaganza, a religious, cultural, cattle, camel and horse fair of gargantuan proportions. A Rajasthan desert fair conducted over many days.

The Pushkar horse fair attracts simple rural folk from all over Rajasthan India’s desert kingdom for a holy immersion in the lake of Pushkar on the night of the full moon.

On this safari we reach Pushkar over a week’s horseback riding through deserts in Rajasthan.

Each day we will ride about 30-35 kilometers on Marwari horses, with a professional English speaking guide on an extra horse.

We will ride for the first 5 days through the beautiful Aravali Mountains, passing lakes, rivers and remote tribal villages. Very few, if at all any, fairs in the world can match the liveliness of Pushkar. Most people associate the Pushkar Fair with the world's largest camel fair, but it is an occasion for villagers from far and near to gather together and enjoys a welcome break from their harsh life of the arid desert. And enjoy they do! In dazzling style and colors.

It is an occasion for Hindu pilgrims to converge for a holy dip in the sacred Pushkar Lake to "wash away the sins of a lifetime" and pay obeisance at the ONLY Brahma temple in the world. Exploring the Old City this morning after breakfast should be a fascinating and rewarding experience...
Old Delhi -The City of Shahjahanabad was the capital of Shah Jahan but little remains of that old city. The Old Delhi or the walled city served as the capital for many emperors. Today, remains of the historical city are the gates like - Kashmiri Gate, Ajmeri Gate, Turkman Gate, Delhi gate. Near Delhi Gate is Feroz Shah Kotla; close to this is kept the Ashokan Pillar, which was brought from Meerut by Feroz Shah Tughlaq.
Chandni Chowk, Delhi, 1863-67

Today

Chandni Chowk runs through the middle of the walled city, from the Lahori Darwaza (Lahore Gate) of the Red Fort to Fatehpuri Masjid. Originally a canal ran through the middle of the street as a part of the water supply scheme. Chandni Chowk was once the grandest of the markets in India

The Mughal imperial processions used to pass through Chandni Chowk. The tradition was continued when Delhi Durbar was held in 1903.
Jama Masjid
Built by Shah Jahan in 1658, it is one of the largest mosques in India with a seating capacity of more than 20,000. The mosque is situated near the Red Fort This is the area that still retains the traditional charm of markets in Mughal times.
Qutub Minar
The highest stone tower in India, the Qutub Minar was built by Qutbuddin Aibak, the viceroy of Mohammed Ghori in 1192. It was built to celebrate Ghori's victory over the Rajput. The tower and the victory are very significant, because both heralded the birth of a new dynasty - Slave Dynasty. And the rest, as one would put it after witnessing this monumental tower, was history.
Humayun's Tomb
Humayun, the eldest son of Babur, succeeded his father and became the second emperor of the Mughal Empire. He ruled India for nearly a decade but was ousted by Sher Shah Suri, the Afghan ruler. Humayun took refuge at the court of the Safavid ruler, Shah of Persia, who helped in regain Delhi in 1555 AD. Unfortunately, he was not able to rule for a long time and met with his untimely death after he fell from the stairs of the Sher Mandal library.
