Patagonia Cattle Drive

Depending on availability, either of the two estancias described below are used.

ESTANCIA HUECHAHUE-CATTLE DRIVE PROGRAM

DAY 01: Arrive at Chapelco airport, San Martin de los Andes, where you will be met. Transfer to Estancia Huechahue (about 55 km). Lunch followed by an afternoon's ride to get used to the horses and tack etc. Dinner and overnight at the Estancia.

DAY 02: A full day's ride on the Estancia with "asado" lunch. Following the Huechahue stream through its basalt canyons you return over the top of Chenque Hill, where the Andes rise up behind you and the vastness of Patagonia stretches out before you. Dinner and over night at the Estancia.

DAY 08-11: 4 days riding in Lanin National Park, through beech forests and bamboo thickets along the shores of Lake Lolog, up the Auquinco Valley through a forest of Monkey Puzzle trees and over the shoulder of the Huanquihue Volcano with its lunar landscape of black ash, before dropping down to the thermal springs at Epulaufquen. Nights spent camping out. Returning to Huechahue on the last day.

DAY 13: A farewell ride on the Estancia before transferring to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires.

Land Cost 12 days $ 3,300. Communication and coordination charges $ 75 per person Air Fare and Hotel in Buenos Aires with arrival departure transfers will be quoted separately when you advise how long you wish to spend in Bs As, and international flight timings.

Las Mellizas

Located 50 km south of Bariloche, Las Mellizas is 25,000 acres of privately owned wilderness in the Andes Mountains.

TERRAIN:
Crystal clear streams full of trout run through wide grassy valleys and forests with several varieties of native beech, laurels, and bamboo, surrounded by snow capped peaks. Bird watchers will enjoy sightings of bird life there are condors, eagles, Woodpeckers, ibis, wild geese, hawks, and plovers.

ACCESS:
The way to come to Patagonia is throughout Buenos Aires, and then two hours flight to Bariloche.

THE RIDE:
The riding hours per day depends on the group, but it is usually 4 hours a day but can be up to 7 hours on a long day.

SEASON/GROUP SIZE/COST
* Group sizes 4-10
* Our season runs from November to April, which is our summer. The ideal length of stay is 10 days, but it could be more or less.
* Price is U$S 260 per day per person, includes transport from Bariloche, food, tents, and activities, no airfare included. Communication and coordination charges $ 75 per person Air Fare and Hotel in Buenos Aires with arrival departure transfers will be quoted separately when you advise you long you wish to spend on Bs As, and international flight timings.

Air fare on request as these fluctuate constantly.
